Managed AI calling: what it is, what it costs and how to choose a provider

  • Managed AI calling
  • AI voice agents
  • India
  • United States

The short answer

Managed AI calling means someone else builds the voice agent, runs it, and keeps improving it while it handles your calls. You bring the business goal and the call script. The provider brings the build, testing and support.

It suits teams that want results from AI voice without hiring engineers or learning a platform.

What a managed service should include

  • Agent design from your real call flows and scripts
  • Building, testing and launching the agent on real calls
  • Ongoing tuning when calls go wrong or the script changes
  • Monitoring and a support channel when something breaks
  • Reporting on calls handled, outcomes and cost
  • A clear route to a human when the agent should hand off

What it costs with RapidXAI

Agent building and 24/7 support from our team are included in every plan. See all plan details on the pricing page.

* Telephony is not included. We work on a bring-your-own-telephony basis. Calls in India need an Indian number and carrier rates; calls in the US need a US number and US carrier rates. Telephony charges differ by country and carrier, and they are billed by your carrier, or by us at an additional charge if you want us to set up and manage numbers for you.

  • Paid Pilot: ₹25,000 one-time (about $290) for 30 days, credited to your first month.
  • Starter: ₹15,000 a month (about $170) with 1,500 AI call minutes. Extra minutes at ₹7 ($0.08).
  • Growth: ₹40,000 a month (about $450) with 4,000 AI call minutes. Extra minutes at ₹6 ($0.07).
  • Enterprise: from ₹4 (about $0.05) per minute at committed volumes, with a pilot and security review first.

When managed AI calling fits, and when it does not

  • Fits: appointment booking, lead qualification, inbound enquiries, reminders, after-hours coverage and first-line support.
  • Fits: businesses that get repeat, predictable call types.
  • Does not fit well: long negotiations, emotionally sensitive calls, or regulated advice where a licensed person must speak.
  • Does not fit well: outbound calling to people who have not agreed to be called.

How to test a provider before you sign

  • Ask for a live demo on your own script, not a canned demo.
  • Interrupt the agent mid-sentence and check that it stops talking right away.
  • Listen for delay between your words and its reply on a real phone line.
  • Ask what happens when the agent does not know the answer.
  • Ask who owns the recordings, transcripts and agent configuration if you leave.
  • Start with a small paid pilot on real calls before a long contract.

Frequently asked questions

What is managed AI calling?
A managed AI calling service builds, runs and improves AI voice agents that make and take calls for you. You describe the job and the outcome, and the provider handles the build, testing, monitoring and fixes.
How is managed AI calling different from buying a voice AI platform?
A platform gives you tools and you do the building and tuning yourself. A managed service includes the agent building and ongoing support, so you pay for an outcome and not for hours of setup.
How much does managed AI calling cost?
RapidXAI plans start at ₹15,000 a month (about $170) for 1,500 AI call minutes, and ₹40,000 a month (about $450) for 4,000 minutes. Telephony is billed separately.
Can AI make outbound sales calls legally?
Rules differ by country. In India, telemarketing is regulated by TRAI and the Do Not Disturb registry. In the US, automated and AI-generated voice calls generally need prior consent under the TCPA. Confirm your specific use case with a lawyer before launching outbound campaigns.
